RANIPET, Tamil Nadu – In a landmark moment for India’s automotive sector, Chief Minister MK Stalin inaugurated the state-of-the-art Tata Motors-Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) manufacturing plant in Ranipet on Monday. This cutting-edge facility marks a significant milestone, positioning Tamil Nadu as a global hub for luxury vehicle production.
Addressing a gathering of industry leaders and officials, Stalin hailed the Tata Group as a cornerstone of Indian industry. ‘Tata’s longstanding partnership with Tamil Nadu has been built on trust and mutual growth,’ he remarked. The group’s footprint spans steel, IT, airlines, automobiles, consumer goods, hospitality, and telecom, embodying a true multinational Indian powerhouse with unmatched brand equity.
Stalin emphasized Tamil Nadu’s dominance in automobile manufacturing, proudly noting its emergence as the epicenter for electric vehicle production. ‘Our robust industrial legacy propels us to the forefront of the motor vehicle sector,’ he said. Selecting Tamil Nadu for this plant is a matter of immense pride, transforming it into a national project of strategic importance.
The plant will produce world-class Jaguar luxury cars and locally manufacture the iconic Range Rover for global markets. ‘This facility proves Tamil Nadu’s capability to craft vehicles that compete on the world stage,’ Stalin declared. He underscored the state’s commitment to balanced development across all districts, driven by the Dravidian model that prioritizes economic progress alongside social justice and women’s empowerment.
Praising Industry Minister TRB Raja for swift project execution, Stalin stressed that attracting investments is only half the battle—rapid implementation is key. He thanked Tata Chairman N. Chandrasekaran and urged further expansions, including new factories and R&D centers. With superior infrastructure, peaceful environs, and a skilled workforce, Tamil Nadu stands ready as the group’s top choice for investments.
