In a dramatic late-night operation, Bareilly police engaged in a fierce shootout with two hardened criminals in the Bhamora police station area, leaving both suspects injured and in custody. The encounter, which unfolded near Rampura underpass, resulted in the recovery of two stolen motorcycles, four looted mobile phones, and two illegal country-made pistols loaded with live cartridges.
Senior officials had formed special teams following a spate of bike thefts and robberies in the region. Acting on precise intelligence about suspicious activity, the police team moved in swiftly. When challenged, the duo opened fire without hesitation, prompting a measured retaliatory response that struck both in the legs. The injured men, identified as Jafaruddin from Bhojipura and Sudama from Jatnagar, were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Both have extensive criminal records, including serious charges in Ghaziabad and Sitapur, with prior jail terms under NDPS and other grave offenses. Interrogation revealed a third accomplice, Asif, who remains at large but is expected to be apprehended soon. Circle Officer Nitin Kumar emphasized that their long history of crime warrants strict action.
Authorities hailed the operation as a major blow to local criminal networks. With stolen goods recovered and key players nabbed, police anticipate a deterrent effect on similar activities. The accused will be produced before a judicial magistrate post-recovery, as investigations continue to uncover more links in their operations. This incident underscores Uttar Pradesh police’s commitment to maintaining law and order through proactive policing.
