In a stern warning to engineers and contractors, Bihar’s Road Construction Minister Dilip Kumar Jaiswal has declared zero tolerance for poor road quality. Speaking at a recent event, he issued a three-month deadline: any potholes found on department roads will lead to strict action against those responsible.
Jaiswal emphasized that compromising on road construction standards is unacceptable. He revealed that just a day earlier, he blacklisted a major contractor handling the India-Nepal border road project, JKM Infra Projects, after years of delays and extensions. This prominent firm was swiftly barred from future tenders, sending shockwaves across the state.
“No matter how big the name, substandard work won’t be tolerated,” Jaiswal asserted. His decisive move has put the entire construction sector on high alert. He guaranteed that under his watch, Bihar’s roads will rank among the best in the country.
Highlighting ongoing projects, the minister pointed to the widening of Kishanganj-Bahadurganj road, bridge construction in Taiyabpur, and the four-lane highway from Baisi-Amaur-Galgalia. These initiatives underscore the government’s commitment to superior infrastructure.
Jaiswal also touched on broader development goals, noting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s promise of one crore jobs, with industry playing a key role. He stressed the need to accelerate progress in education and development, especially in the Seemanchal region, which remains a priority.
The event, a convocation ceremony, saw the presence of Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Minister Ashok Chaudhary, and local representatives, all endorsing the push for quality infrastructure.
