In a heartbreaking incident that has shocked the Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh, a speeding truck collided head-on with a motorcycle near Hinduari in the Robertsganj police station area, claiming the lives of three people on the spot. The accident, which occurred on February 9, has sent ripples of grief through the local community.

The victims were returning home from a tilak ceremony when tragedy struck. Among the deceased is Dayashankar Singh, the principal of Chandragupta Maurya Inter College, a respected figure in the area. Accompanying him were Prem Singh, son of Kedar Singh from Hinduari village, and Kamla Singh, son of Somru from Tilaya under Robertsganj police station. The force of the impact was so severe that all three succumbed instantly at the scene.

Eyewitnesses described a scene of chaos as the truck rammed into the bike before the driver fled the spot, abandoning the vehicle. Local residents rushed to help, but it was too late for the victims. The news spread like wildfire, leaving families devastated and the village enveloped in mourning.

Robertsganj police arrived swiftly, securing the area and sending the bodies for postmortem examination. Officers have launched a manhunt for the absconding driver, reviewing nearby CCTV footage to trace the truck’s movements. This incident underscores the persistent issue of reckless driving on district roads.

Just days earlier, another fatal crash in Sonbhadra’s Anpara area saw a truck hit motorcyclists near Ma Asthbhuja Durga Temple in Dibulgaj, killing 18-year-old Jitendra Vishwakarma and critically injuring his friend Ajay Gupta. The driver in that case also escaped. Authorities are urging stricter enforcement to prevent such needless deaths.
