In a swift operation, Delhi Police has unraveled a daring theft worth over Rs 30 lakh from a residence in Dwarka’s upscale Sector-23. The prime suspect, a domestic helper employed at the house, has been apprehended with the stolen gold jewelry, cash, and silver coins recovered from her possession.
The incident came to light on February 1 when homeowner Amit Lochav lodged a complaint at Dwarka Sector-23 police station. He alleged that valuables including gold ornaments and cash had vanished from his home. Suspicion immediately fell on the maid, Jyoti, who had unrestricted access to the premises.
Acting on the FIR registered under BNS Section 306, a dedicated police team launched a manhunt. A tip-off led them to Jyoti’s hideout in Issapur Kheda village under Kapashera police station limits. During the raid, officers seized approximately 190 grams of gold jewelry valued at Rs 30 lakh, two silver coins worth Rs 4,000, and Rs 18,000 in cash.
The recovered items included four gold bangles (80g), two gold bangles (50g), a gold chain (25g), a gold-platinum bracelet (20g), three gold rings (18g), a pair of gold earrings (5g), and the aforementioned silver coins and cash. This meticulous recovery underscores the police’s commitment to curbing domestic crimes.
Preliminary investigations reveal Jyoti exploited a moment when the family was away to execute the theft. Interrogations are ongoing to ascertain if accomplices were involved. Delhi Police continues its probe, promising further updates as the case unfolds. Residents are urged to verify credentials of household staff rigorously to prevent such breaches.
