In a significant push against left-wing extremism, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level security review meeting in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The session focused on the state’s battle against Naxalism, alongside a detailed assessment of ongoing development projects. Attendees included Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma, Union Home Secretary, IB Director, and heads of key forces like CRPF, NIA, BSF, and ITBP. Directors General from Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Maharashtra’s police and home departments were also present.
Addressing the gathering, Shah praised the security-centric strategy adopted by the central and state governments. He highlighted successful strikes on Naxal financial networks, infrastructure development in affected areas, and effective surrender policies. ‘These measures are yielding positive results,’ he stated, expressing confidence that Naxalism would be eradicated by March 31, 2026.
Shah emphasized how Chhattisgarh, once a hotbed of Naxal violence, is transforming under the double-engine government’s leadership led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. ‘Development is now the hallmark here,’ he said, noting the youth’s engagement in sports, forensics, and technical education while preserving cultural traditions.
The Home Minister underscored the nationwide campaign to eliminate Maoism. ‘Naxalism, which has plunged generations into poverty and illiteracy, is on the brink of extinction,’ he declared. He called for seamless coordination among states and central agencies to prevent remaining Naxals from fleeing across borders.
This meeting signals a decisive phase in India’s fight against insurgency, with development and security walking hand-in-hand to secure a Naxal-free nation soon.
