In a dramatic showdown in Bihar’s Hajipur district, police gunned down Prince Kumar, the mastermind behind a staggering 300 kilograms of gold robberies. The operation unfolded late Friday night in Hanuman Nagar Colony under Hajipur Sadar police station limits. A joint team from Patna STF and Vaishali police cornered the fugitive, leading to an intense exchange of fire.
Prince Kumar, also known as Abhijeet Kumar from Husseina village in Goraul thana area, met his end during the fierce encounter. Shockingly, his own father, Nandkishore Singh, publicly endorsed the police action. Speaking to reporters, Singh declared, ‘The police did the right thing. I had been urging them to eliminate him for ages. He was a criminal, not part of our family anymore.’
SP Vikram Sinhag detailed the raid: Acting on precise intelligence about Prince hiding in a local house, the team moved in swiftly. As officers approached, Prince opened fire, forcing a retaliatory response. He succumbed to gunshot wounds en route to the hospital.
One of his associates was nabbed at the scene with weapons. Prince was the right-hand man of Subodh Singh, Bihar’s most dreaded gold robbery kingpin. With over 40 cases of loot, murder, and arms violations against him, his criminal spree included audacious heists: 56kg from Asansol in 2017, 55kg from Hajipur in 2019, 24kg from Udaipur in 2022, 16kg from Katni, and 18kg from Dehradun in 2023.
His dramatic escapes defined his legend. In 2018, he murdered a policeman inside Hajipur court and fled, only to be recaptured and jailed in Beur. On September 2, posing illness, he overpowered eight guards at PMCH, locked them in a room, and vanished in Bollywood style.
Vaishali police had hunted him relentlessly for years. This encounter marks a major victory against organized gold theft syndicates terrorizing the region, bringing relief to law-abiding citizens and underscoring the effectiveness of targeted policing.
