In a significant move to support vulnerable families, the Hemant Soren government in Jharkhand has greenlit financial assistance for 21 patients battling life-threatening illnesses under the Chief Minister Critical Illness Scheme. The decision came during a key meeting chaired by the Executive Director of Jharkhand State Arogya Society on Friday, where 24 cases were reviewed.

These patients, suffering from severe conditions like cancer, kidney transplants, and brain injuries, will receive between 5 lakh and 10 lakh rupees to cover their medical expenses. Treatments are underway in prominent facilities across Ranchi, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, as well as renowned centers outside the state such as Vellore and Varanasi. This timely aid promises to ease the burden on families struggling with skyrocketing healthcare costs.

Three cases—those of Sheikh Yunus from Dumaria in East Singhbhum, Sarojni Hassa from Khunti, and Komal Jaiswal from Amdapara in Pakur—have been flagged for further physical verification of their current medical status. Reports on these will be submitted soon.

Moving forward, all future applications under the scheme must include updated medical reports, hospital estimates, and verification from civil surgeons. This stricter protocol aims to ensure aid reaches only genuine beneficiaries, strengthening Jharkhand’s healthcare safety net for the economically disadvantaged. Officials hailed the step as a boost to public health infrastructure.
