Lucknow buzzed with political energy as Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati rallied her troops for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. In a high-stakes provincial meeting on Saturday, she unveiled ‘Mission 2027’, drawing parallels to the triumphant ‘Mission 2007’ that propelled BSP to power.
The gathering brought together party leaders from state, divisional, district, and assembly levels. Discussions zeroed in on election strategies, organizational strengthening, and grassroots action plans. Mayawati’s clarion call: Replicate 2007’s success to install a majority government rooted in ‘Sarvajan Hitay, Sarvajan Sukhay’ – welfare and happiness for all.
She painted a vivid picture of BSP governance, where rule of law ensured security for life, property, and faith across communities. Social harmony flourished, paving the way for development. Contrast this, she urged, with the current BJP regime, where nearly every social segment reels from discontent.
Brahmins, in particular, face neglect, insecurity, and disrespect – issues now echoing nationally. Mayawati reminded attendees: No other party or government honored Brahmins with the respect, positions, and protection BSP provided.
Her broadside against rivals was unrelenting. Opposition politics thrives on narrow casteism and crony capitalism, forcing the public to endure repeated betrayals. On reservations for SCs, STs, and OBCs, she accused governments of bad faith, leading to job and promotion hurdles for these groups.
UGC rules, she charged, fuel social tensions rather than unity. Unemployment soars, contract and outsourcing jobs breed exploitation, while education, health, and basic services deteriorate.
On voter list revisions (SIR), Mayawati appealed to the state to direct officials compassionately, ensuring the poor, laborers, women, and illiterate aren’t excluded. BSP workers, she noted, valiantly counter rivals’ dirty tricks but need organizational overhaul for the electoral battle ahead.
Turning to Parliament’s budget session, she decried the ruling party and opposition’s mutual mudslinging, stalling vital debates on public issues. True parliamentary democracy demands question hours and factual discussions, letting the people judge right from wrong.
Mayawati’s vision for 2027 isn’t just a campaign slogan – it’s a promise to restore inclusive governance Uttar Pradesh desperately craves.
