Jammu, February 6 – In a powerful display of solidarity with India’s border guardians, Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the Border Security Force (BSF) outposts ‘Gurnam’ and ‘Bobia’ along the India-Pakistan border during his Jammu tour. Paying homage at the ‘Ajeya Praharis’ memorial, Shah honored the fallen heroes and planted trees at the Bobia complex, symbolizing growth amid vigilance.

Shah inaugurated welfare projects worth Rs 7 crore for BSF personnel, including new solar water heaters, a solar power plant, and an officers’ mess. He also laid the foundation stone for infrastructure developments costing Rs 242 crore. The event saw the presence of Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Home Secretary, IB Director, BSF Director General, and other dignitaries.

Addressing the jawans, Shah shared how visits to remote BSF posts in Kutch, Rajasthan, and Jammu-Kashmir always inspire him with their dedication. ‘You stand as the epitome of duty and commitment, guarding our borders day and night,’ he said, praising their role over 60 years in repelling intrusions and infiltrations.

Highlighting ‘Operation Sindoor,’ Shah lauded the BSF’s valor, which destroyed 118 Pakistani posts and three terrorist launch pads. Sub-Inspector Mohammad Imtiaz Ahmad and Constable Deepak Chinkham received Vir Chakra posthumously, alongside 16 gallantry medals. ‘This is our nation’s pride,’ he declared.

Shah noted BSF’s exploits beyond borders – from Manipur’s hills to Maoist areas in Odisha and Chhattisgarh, and disaster relief in Punjab floods, where their efforts were invaluable. ‘Wherever BSF goes, it hoists the flag of valor,’ he affirmed.

Emphasizing modern challenges, Shah stressed technological upgrades. ‘This 61st year of BSF will focus on modernization and welfare,’ he announced, revealing a dedicated Home Ministry team and upcoming special schemes under PM Modi. Enhanced infrastructure and equipment will ease hardships, enabling even fiercer duty performance.

Concluding with praise for women personnel’s contributions, Shah shared lunch with the troops, reinforcing the nation’s gratitude. Thanks to BSF’s steadfastness, India sleeps in peace.
