Patna erupted in political fireworks on Friday as Bihar BJP President Sanjay Saravgi launched a scathing attack on RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. The confrontation stemmed from Tejashwi’s explosive allegations in the assembly, where he claimed the NDA spent a staggering Rs 40,000 crore to defeat his party in the recent Bihar elections.
Saravgi dismissed the charges with contempt, declaring that the RJD’s influence has been completely wiped out and any remnants will soon follow. ‘Since the NDA formed a full-majority government in Bihar, no one has dared to point fingers at us,’ he asserted. He referenced court observations labeling Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family as a syndicate running criminal politics.
Tejashwi had specifically accused the BJP of bribing women voters with Rs 10,000 each during the elections, attributing NDA’s victory to this tactic. Saravgi hit back hard, calling it a grave insult to Bihar’s women. ‘This is an affront to the dignity of Bihar’s people,’ he said. ‘Our government is committed to empowering women and making them self-reliant. We’ve just begun with Rs 10,000 assistance, and women advancing their businesses will receive up to Rs 2 lakh.’
He proudly highlighted Bihar’s top ranking in national women’s empowerment indices. Saravgi also drew parallels to Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, whom he accused of maligning India abroad and disrespecting communities like the Sikhs.
The spat underscores deepening rifts ahead of future electoral battles. Tejashwi, undeterred, painted a grim picture of Bihar under NDA rule, insisting the state lags at the bottom in every development metric despite tall claims of good governance and rapid progress. As accusations fly, Bihar’s political landscape remains fiercely contested, with women’s empowerment emerging as a flashpoint.
