In a stunning revelation, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu accused the previous YSR Congress Party government of using chemical-laden ghee, akin to bathroom cleaners, in the sacred Tirupati laddus. Speaking at a public rally in Yemmiganur, Kurnool district, Naidu lambasted the YSRCP for desecrating the sanctity of the Lord Venkateswara temple by adulterating the prasad.
Naidu detailed how for five long years under YSRCP rule, the temple’s famous laddus were prepared with impure ghee derived from harsh cleaning chemicals. ‘They turned the holy offering into something unfit even for cleaning bathrooms,’ he thundered, emphasizing the grave betrayal of devotees’ faith.
The CM was addressing farmers while distributing ‘Aapki Zameen – Aapka Adhikar’ pattadar passbooks, a scheme aimed at securing land rights. He countered YSRCP leader and former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s claims of a clean chit from CBI and SIT, pointing out that Jagan’s own uncle, Y.V. Subba Reddy, had admitted to the adulteration scandal.
Naidu highlighted the marked improvement in laddu quality since his TDP-led coalition took charge. ‘The difference between then and now is night and day,’ he asserted, vowing to restore the temple’s purity. He also criticized YSRCP’s muscle-flexing tactics, urging them to save political stunts for elections rather than harassing citizens, as seen in Jagan’s recent Guntur yatra where drivers faced chaos and fruits were wantonly destroyed.
Under the new government, efforts are underway to equip farmers with tamper-proof land records, preventing fraud and empowering the rural backbone of Andhra Pradesh. Naidu’s fiery speech underscores a commitment to transparency, faith, and farmer welfare amid ongoing political rivalries.
