In a high-stakes operation, Vaishali police and the Special Task Force gunned down notorious robber Prince in an intense encounter at Hanuman Nagar under Sadar police station. The dramatic showdown left Prince dead and one of his accomplices in custody with a weapon recovered from the scene. Prince, real name Abhijeet Kumar from Husseina in Goraul area, was a key figure in Bihar’s biggest gold heist syndicate led by Subodh Singh.
Superintendent of Police Vikram Sinhag detailed the raid: acting on a tip-off about Prince hiding in a local house, joint teams swooped in. When the criminal opened fire, police retaliated in self-defense. Prince succumbed to injuries at Sadar Hospital. His partner was nabbed immediately, and forensics experts sealed the site.
Prince had been on the run for six months, boasting over 40 cases including murders, robberies, and arms violations. He served as Subodh Singh’s right-hand man and sharpshooter. His most audacious escape came in September 2025 from PMCH, where he treated eight guarding officers to a mutton feast before locking them in a room and fleeing.
The gang’s heists were legendary: 56 kg gold from Asansol in 2017, 55 kg from Hajipur in 2019, 24 kg from Udaipur in 2022, 16 kg from Katni, and 18 kg from Dehradun in 2023. Earlier, in 2018, he murdered a policeman at Hajipur court and escaped jail after arrest. This encounter marks a major victory for Bihar police against organized crime, but the hunt for remaining gang members continues.
