A shocking incident has gripped Greater Noida West after a woman allegedly shot herself with her boyfriend’s service pistol. The woman, identified as 25-year-old Priya, is fighting for her life in a local hospital following the late-night drama at Radha Sky Garden Society in Bisrakh police jurisdiction.
Priya’s boyfriend, Ashish, a Delhi Police constable, has been detained by authorities. The couple had been in a relationship for about five years. Ashish, who is reportedly in the midst of a divorce from his first wife, had been living with Priya in the society for the past five months.
According to police, the tragedy unfolded during a party at their flat late on Friday night. Ashish’s friends were present when his estranged wife called. Priya answered the phone, leading to a heated argument that escalated quickly.
In a fit of rage, Priya grabbed Ashish’s licensed pistol and shot herself. The gunshot alerted others in the flat and neighboring residents. Ashish rushed the bleeding Priya to the hospital, where she underwent emergency treatment.
Central Noida DCP Shakti Mohan Awasthi confirmed that the flat has been sealed, and forensic teams are collecting evidence. Ashish’s weapon has been seized. ‘We are investigating all angles to determine if this was a suicide attempt or something else,’ the DCP stated.
The incident has raised serious questions about firearm safety among police personnel and the emotional toll of personal relationships under stress. Police continue to probe the call logs, witness statements, and forensic reports for clarity.
