New Delhi witnessed a significant political meeting on Thursday as Member of Parliament Hema Malini sat down with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at the Delhi Secretariat. The discussion centered on a range of development-related matters crucial to the capital’s progress.

The Chief Minister’s Office shared details on social media, noting that the conversation covered various important topics. This interaction underscores the ongoing collaboration between national leaders and local governance to address urban challenges in Delhi.

Just prior to this meeting, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had participated in a high-profile event at the NDMC Convention Centre to mark World Cancer Day. She joined Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Pratap Rao Jadhav, for the ‘Jan-Jan Jage, Cancer Bhage’ campaign aimed at raising awareness and promoting early detection.

In her address, Gupta highlighted the devastating impact of cancer, not just on physical health but also on mental resilience, self-confidence, and family finances. She stressed that combating cancer requires more than medical treatment; it demands collective societal support and deep human empathy.

Gupta pointed to the growing role of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs as the backbone of primary healthcare in Delhi. Currently, around 350 such centers operate across the city, offering free screenings for oral, breast, and cervical cancers, along with medications, vaccinations, and essential diagnostics.

Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, over 43 crore people nationwide have gained health coverage, with millions in Delhi benefiting directly. Complementing this, more than 16,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras provide affordable medicines—up to 90% cheaper—ensuring quality drugs reach common citizens. Delhi is expanding these centers rapidly.

The Chief Minister also announced a massive Rs 10,000 crore allocation from the central government for key Delhi hospitals like AIIMS, Safdarjung, and Ram Manohar Lohia. This funding will upgrade infrastructure, introduce cutting-edge equipment, and enhance patient services, making treatment more accessible, dignified, and effective.

Rekha Gupta reaffirmed the Delhi government’s commitment to partnering with all institutions dedicated to public service and healthcare, promising a robust framework for the city’s health sector moving forward.
