New Delhi erupted with sharp political exchanges on Thursday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a fiery response to the motion of thanks on the President’s address in the Rajya Sabha. Targeting the opposition squarely, Modi quipped, ‘How long will you deceive the world? Once you look in the mirror, where will you hide your truth?’
The Prime Minister highlighted transformative economic achievements under his government. He revealed that over ₹30 lakh crore in collateral-free loans have been disbursed to youth through the Mudra scheme, with a significant portion going to women entrepreneurs. Beyond self-help groups, direct financial aid reached 10 crore women, bolstering grassroots empowerment.
MSME sectors received robust credit support, fortifying India’s economic backbone. Modi asserted with confidence that non-performing assets (NPAs), which peaked during the UPA era, have now plummeted below 1%, signaling the healthiest banking sector in years. Bank profits have soared to record highs, a stark turnaround from previous distress.
Public sector enterprises, once teetering on closure under Congress rule, are now posting unprecedented profits. These PSUs are driving the ‘Make in India’ initiative and generating jobs at an extraordinary pace, Modi emphasized.
Turning the heat on rivals like Congress, TMC, DMK, and Left parties, he accused them of decades in power at the Centre and states, yet prioritizing personal gains over public welfare. ‘Deals were always scandals like Bofors back then; now we talk deals with pride,’ he contrasted.
Modi showcased development milestones, ensuring young officers get three-year tenures for sustained impact. Aspirational districts like Bastar in Chhattisgarh, once synonymous with challenges, now host events like the Bastar Olympics. Buses reaching remote villages for the first time underscore connectivity breakthroughs, proving the power of committed implementation.
