In a major boost to Uttar Pradesh’s ambitious entertainment dreams, the state’s inaugural International Film City in Greater Noida’s Jewar region is gearing up for its first major shoot. Boney Kapoor’s much-awaited ‘Mom 2’, the sequel to the 2017 blockbuster hit, will roll cameras here soon, marking a milestone for Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s pet project.
Preliminary preparations are in full swing at the sprawling site along the Yamuna Expressway. The joint venture between producer Boney Kapoor and Bhutani Group, under Bayview Bhutani Film City Private Limited, has kicked off land mapping. Officials confirm that once mapping wraps up, shooting sets will be ready in about 20 days, paving the way for production to commence.
This development follows the approval of the layout plan by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). The Film City, envisioned as a global hub for films, OTT platforms, and web series, promises world-class infrastructure near the upcoming Jewar International Airport. It’s set to transform UP into an entertainment powerhouse with seamless connectivity and cutting-edge facilities.
Rajiv Arora, General Manager of the project, shared that construction activities are also accelerating alongside shoot preparations. ‘The sets for Mom 2 will be operational shortly, signaling the start of film-related activities. We expect formal inauguration by CM Yogi and PM Modi soon,’ he said.
Boney Kapoor, who produced the original ‘Mom’ starring Sridevi, has chosen UP for the sequel, underscoring growing industry confidence in the state’s film policy. Experts believe this could position the Film City as a formidable rival to Mumbai’s studios, drawing productions with incentives and superior amenities.
As Uttar Pradesh races to become India’s next entertainment capital, ‘Mom 2’ shooting heralds an era of opportunity for local talent, jobs, and economic growth. The project not only boosts the creative economy but also elevates the state’s global profile in cinema.
