New Delhi witnessed a heated exchange in the Lok Sabha as NDA parliamentarians sharply criticized the opposition’s aggressive protest methods, particularly involving women MPs. BJP MP Dharmshila Gupta labeled the incident as deeply unfortunate, accusing the opposition of using women as shields to insult Prime Minister Narendra Modi. ‘This is not just an affront to the PM but a direct attack on Parliament and India’s democratic ethos,’ she declared.
Gupta highlighted the irony: while the Prime Minister champions women’s empowerment across sectors, from education to entrepreneurship, the opposition resorts to dynastic politics and cheap tactics. ‘The nation and the world are watching,’ she added, condemning the opposition’s behavior unequivocally.
BJP MP Mayankbhai Nayak echoed these sentiments, calling the previous day a black mark on parliamentary democracy. He pointed out that while the opposition has legitimate grievances, there are established procedures for dissent that must be followed. Pushing women MPs to the forefront in a bid for the PM’s chair is unacceptable, he stressed.
Sakshi Maharaj, another BJP voice, blamed Rahul Gandhi and the opposition’s election defeat for their desperation to turn Parliament into a street brawl. ‘It was divine intervention that the PM wasn’t present,’ he remarked. Arun Govil went further, noting the premeditated nature of the protest and calling it repulsive.
TDP MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu disapproved of bringing posters and placards into the House, urging the opposition to maintain decorum inside while protesting outside. BJP’s Dinesh Sharma dismissed the antics as petty, warning that such disruptions only portray the opposition as villains in public eyes.
The episode underscores ongoing tensions in the winter session, with NDA MPs demanding respect for parliamentary traditions amid relentless opposition protests against various government policies.
