Bhopal is buzzing with activity as Madhya Pradesh grapples with the aftermath of recent unseasonal rains and hailstorms that have devastated crops across multiple districts. The state government has swung into action, ordering comprehensive surveys to assess the damage and ensure swift relief for affected farmers.

Teams of officials, from district collectors to cabinet ministers, are fanning out to fields, meticulously documenting the extent of destruction. In Gwalior’s Bhitarwar area, collector Ruchika Chauhan has formed special survey teams for villages like Chinor, Badkisrai, and Sikrauda, with a strict three-day deadline for reports.

Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Deora paid a visit to Mandsaur’s Malhargarh constituency, inspecting damaged fields in Kitukhedi, Gopalpura, and other villages. He reassured farmers that the government stands firmly with them, promising thorough field-by-field assessments and full insurance payouts where applicable.

The untimely weather has hit standing crops hard, leaving farmers in distress. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has directed all district administrations to expedite surveys. Even the Narcotics Department is involved for opium cultivation areas, with plans to coordinate with the central government for additional support.

As preliminary assessments roll in, the focus remains on rapid relief distribution. This crisis underscores the vulnerability of agriculture to erratic weather patterns, prompting calls for better preparedness and insurance penetration among Madhya Pradesh’s farming community.
