    Washington, February 5 – India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar concluded a highly productive three-day visit to the United States from February 2 to 4, marking a significant milestone in bilateral relations. Meeting with top US officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Jaishankar described the trip as positive and forward-looking.

    In a detailed post on X, formerly Twitter, Jaishankar shared photos from his meeting with Rubio, thanking him for the warm hospitality. He highlighted that the historic India-US trade agreement is in its final detailing stages, set to usher in a new era of deepened ties brimming with opportunities.

    The discussions extended beyond trade to critical minerals cooperation, which is advancing rapidly. Jaishankar noted expectations for upcoming talks on strategic issues, defense, and energy, underscoring a strong momentum in the partnership.

    Jaishankar held separate meetings with senior US government figures, including Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. Conversations focused extensively on the India-US strategic and economic partnership.

    Key topics with Rubio included trade, energy, nuclear cooperation, defense, critical minerals, and technology. Both sides agreed to expedite follow-up actions and schedule further meetings to advance shared interests.

    According to US State Department insights, the meeting formalized discussions on bilateral cooperation in critical minerals exploration, mining, and processing – an emerging pillar of economic and strategic relations.

    This visit came just a day after President Trump and Prime Minister Modi’s announcement of a trade deal aimed at reducing barriers and enhancing market access between the world’s two largest democracies.

    The outcomes signal robust progress, positioning India and the US for collaborative growth in vital sectors amid global challenges.
