New Delhi witnessed a swift crackdown by South Delhi police in a brutal assault case reported from Mehrauli area. On February 3, a distress call reached Mehrauli police station about a man being beaten up near Anupam Apartments on IGNOU Road, Saket. Responding promptly, officers rushed to the spot and found 26-year-old Mukesh from Sangam Vihar lying injured.

The victim was immediately rushed to Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital for initial treatment. Due to his critical condition, he was later transferred to AIIMS Trauma Centre for advanced care. Police investigations revealed that four individuals had ganged up to attack Mukesh in a premeditated assault.

Registering an FIR under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) – 113/26, 110/79, 126(2)/3(5) – authorities formed special teams to hunt down the perpetrators. Thanks to meticulous planning and coordinated efforts, all four accused were identified, traced, and arrested within hours from Sangam Vihar.

The suspects include Vishal Rawat (26), son of Balam Singh Rawat; Jatin (20), son of Rakesh Gupta; Sonu (25), son of Shahzad Ali; and Vivek (20). Delhi Police’s press release highlighted their efficient operation, emphasizing that investigations continue to uncover any additional angles or motives behind the violence.

This incident underscores the Delhi Police’s commitment to maintaining law and order, particularly in high-density areas prone to such flare-ups. Residents have appreciated the rapid response, which prevented potential escalation. Further probes will determine if the assault stemmed from personal rivalry or other factors, with the accused remanded for questioning.
