RANCHI: Jharkhand’s Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh declared on Wednesday that the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) has become the unbreakable backbone of rural life in the state. Speaking at a state-level conference themed ‘Sharing the Experience and Success Stories and Felicitating the Best Performing Women Mates,’ she highlighted how women’s active participation has infused new vigor into the scheme.
The minister emphasized that MGNREGA transcends mere job provision. It stands as the most potent tool for fostering self-reliance in rural economies. Under this flagship program, critical infrastructure like water conservation structures, irrigation systems, rural roads, ponds, and wells is being built, laying a solid foundation for village development.
Singh underscored the state government’s commitment to empowering women through MGNREGA. The priority is to position women in leadership roles and enhance their involvement in panchayat-level decision-making. Women mates, she noted, have set new benchmarks in accountability, transparency, and efficiency at the grassroots level.
During the event, outstanding women mates were honored for their exemplary contributions. The minister described these awards as a tribute to women who have propelled village development amid adversities, transforming MGNREGA into a people’s movement.
Participants shared gripping success stories and experiences, igniting fresh inspiration for inclusive, empowered, and sustainable rural growth across Jharkhand. As the state pushes forward, MGNREGA continues to redefine rural prosperity, proving its indispensable role in bridging urban-rural divides and building resilient communities.
