BEIJING – In a significant diplomatic engagement, Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with Le Hoai Trung, special envoy of Vietnamese Communist Party General Secretary To Lam and Vietnam’s Foreign Minister, at the Great Hall of the People on February 4 afternoon.
Xi highlighted the longstanding tradition of both parties briefing each other on key political agendas, which underscores the unique ‘comrades plus brothers’ friendship and high-level mutual political trust between China and Vietnam. He recalled his recent in-depth exchanges with To Lam, where they reached important common understandings on building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future.
Emphasizing the global demonstration of socialism’s vitality through their parallel socialist construction efforts, Xi reaffirmed China’s commitment to promoting friendly traditions, deepening exchanges and cooperation at all levels, properly managing differences, and advancing the shared future community.
Le Hoai Trung responded that Vietnam prioritizes developing relations with China and is ready to join hands to elevate Vietnam-China ties to new heights along the path of new development.
This meeting comes amid strengthening bilateral ties, with both nations focusing on economic integration and regional stability in Southeast Asia. Analysts see it as a boost to ASEAN-China relations, particularly in infrastructure and trade corridors like the Belt and Road Initiative.
