Patna, February 4 – Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted a thorough inspection of the ongoing redevelopment projects at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) on Wednesday. His visit underscores the state’s commitment to upgrading healthcare infrastructure to world-class standards.
During the tour, the CM examined the newly constructed Emergency Building (Phase-1), focusing on the first floor’s Radiology Department. Officials briefed him on the installation of state-of-the-art CT scan and MRI machines, alongside other essential diagnostic facilities. This upgrade aims to provide cutting-edge imaging services right within the hospital premises.
Ascending to the fifth floor, Kumar reviewed the pediatric ward’s facilities, ensuring they meet modern healthcare needs for children. He then surveyed the broader hospital campus, assessing progress on various construction sites. Detailed reports on timelines, budgets, and challenges were presented by senior officials.
Emphasizing quality and safety, the Chief Minister directed engineers to prioritize structural integrity and compliance with all norms. ‘Patients coming here must receive timely, advanced treatment without any hassle,’ he asserted. Plans include residential accommodations for doctors, students, teachers, and nursing staff to support round-the-clock care.
PMCH is set for a massive expansion to 5,462 beds, transforming it into one of India’s largest medical hubs. Kumar also inspected beautification works along JP Ganga Path, including a new park development. Accompanying him were Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, Health Secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh, and Secretary Kumar Ravi.
This proactive oversight signals Bihar’s push towards accessible, high-quality healthcare for all citizens, with completion deadlines now firmly in place.
