In a shocking incident from Gariaband district in Chhattisgarh, two women have been arrested for brutally murdering their friend over suspicions of character defamation. The gruesome attack involved rubbing chili powder on the victim’s private parts and relentlessly beating her with sticks until she succumbed to her injuries.
The tragedy unfolded in Gariba village under Mainpur block. The victim, identified as 37-year-old Pinky (name changed), had been at loggerheads with her neighbors Sugatin Netam, 36, and Itwarin Bai, 46. Police reports indicate that the accused believed Pinky was spreading malicious rumors about their character in the village, fueling long-standing tensions that erupted into violence.
On the fateful day, the two women stormed into Pinky’s home. What began as a heated argument quickly escalated. They subjected her to unimaginable torture, first inserting chili powder into her private areas, causing excruciating pain. This was followed by a savage beating with sticks and lathis. Neighbors heard her cries but arrived too late to intervene.
Local police rushed to the scene upon receiving reports. They secured the body, sent it for postmortem, and collected crucial evidence from the spot. Both accused have been taken into custody, and a murder case has been registered against them.
Station House Officer Nakul Sidar confirmed that interrogations are ongoing to uncover the full details. Investigators are also probing if any other individuals were involved, directly or indirectly. The postmortem report is awaited to confirm the exact cause of death, but preliminary findings point to severe trauma from the assault.
This horrifying case has sent ripples of fear through the close-knit village community. It highlights deep-seated issues of suspicion and honor-related violence in rural areas. Authorities have assured swift justice, but the loss of a life in such barbaric fashion leaves the victim’s family devastated and the village in mourning.
