Review of Skill Development, Technical Education and Employment Department
Raipur, February 03, 2026/Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has instructed officials to make the youth self-reliant by providing them with maximum skill development training. Shri Sai said that new industries are going to be established in Chhattisgarh in the coming times, and the youth will get employment in these industries. The Chief Minister held a review meeting of the Skill Development, Technical Education, Employment and Training Department today at Mahanadi Bhavan, Ministry. The Chief Minister also instructed the department officials to organize employment fairs in various districts of the state from time to time. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Skill Development, Technical Education, Employment and Training, Guru Khushwant Saheb, Chief Secretary Shri Vikasheel, and many senior officials.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister specially emphasized on making the youth of the state employable and on the modernization of technical institutions. He said that with the modernization of ITIs, the youth will receive training according to the needs of the industries and employment opportunities will increase in the state. He agreed to the proposal for the integration of CSSDA and the State Project Livelihood College Society and directed for swift action. Rational placement of Assistant Directors and Assistant Project Officers should be ensured in the districts. He directed for effective implementation of the Aadhaar Enabled Attendance System (AEBAS) in training centers and for further strengthening the Jtampdamm Thmmakimba module developed for feedback from trained youth.
In the meeting, officials informed that under the Chief Minister Skill Development Scheme, more than 4.90 lakh youth have been trained since 2013, out of whom more than 2.71 lakh youth have been provided employment. Currently, 356 Training Provider Institutions (VTPs) and 207 registered courses are operational in the state. Under the Prime Minister Setu Yojana by the Central Government, 6 clusters have been selected in the state on a hub-and-spoke model, under which an investment of approximately Rs 60,000 crore is proposed for the upgrade and modernization of ITIs. In this, the Central Government’s share has been fixed at about 50 percent, the State Government’s share at 33 percent, and the industries’ share at a minimum of 17 percent.
Officials informed that under the PM Janman Yojana for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups, training has been provided to approximately 1,700 youth in 9 districts. Also, more than 600 youth have been connected with skill training for the rehabilitation of surrendered Naxalites in districts including Bijapur, Dantewada, Sukma, and Bastar. An increase of 31 percent has been recorded in engineering courses in the session 2025-26 compared to the previous year, and 36 percent in diploma courses. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, Shri Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary Rahul Bhagat, Departmental Secretary Dr. S. Bharidasan, Industry Secretary Rajat Kumar, Labor Secretary Himshikhar Gupta, Director Technical Education Employment and Training Shri Vijay Dayaram K., Vice-Chancellor of Swami Vivekananda Technical University Professor Arun Arora, and other officials.
