Pune’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has dropped a bombshell in the Mundhwa land scam case, filing a massive 1,886-page chargesheet that exposes an alleged illegal sale of 40 acres of prime government land. The document accuses power of attorney holder Sheetal Tejwani of knowingly executing a sale deed for the state-owned property to Amadia Enterprises LLP.

Despite Parth Pawar, son of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, being listed as a partner in the firm, his name does not appear in the FIR or face direct accusations in the preliminary probe. Other partners like Digvijay Amarsingh Patil and suspended tehsildar Suryakant Yewale are squarely implicated, with police alleging the government land was fraudulently portrayed as private property to facilitate the shady deal.

Investigators reveal that Tejwani, aged 44, proceeded with the transaction fully aware of the land’s government status. The chargesheet paints a picture of calculated deception involving forged documents and complicit officials. Pune police sources indicate the probe is far from over, with potential supplementary chargesheets if fresh evidence emerges.

This scandal has ignited political fireworks, with opposition parties hammering the government over administrative lapses. Ajit Pawar has distanced himself, claiming ignorance of the deal and insisting he would have blocked it had he known. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered a high-level inquiry, underscoring the case’s sensitivity amid Maharashtra’s cutthroat politics.

As EOW delves deeper into documents, official roles, and private entities, the full extent of this multimillion-rupee fraud could unravel more high-profile names. The Mundhwa episode highlights systemic vulnerabilities in land records and the urgent need for tighter oversight in real estate transactions.
