In a swift operation, South-West Delhi’s Kishangarh police station team has cracked three vehicle theft cases, leading to the arrest of two habitual offenders. The breakthrough came through meticulous CCTV analysis and advanced surveillance techniques that pinpointed the suspects’ movements.

From the duo’s possession, officers recovered three stolen alloy wheel tires from Chery vehicles, specialized tools for removing alloy wheels, and the Hyundai Aura car used in the crimes. Identified as Ankit (37) and Ketan Tokas, both residents of New Delhi, the accused confessed to their involvement driven by drug addiction.

The case originated on January 29 when V Kumar reported the theft of alloy wheels and tires from his parked Hyundai Aura car. An e-FIR was promptly registered under relevant BNS sections. Investigators scoured CCTV footage from the scene and vicinity, spotting two to three suspicious youths lurking around the vehicle at around 5:30 PM on January 28.

One footage highlighted a suspicious Hyundai car, later traced to Ankit’s registration. Mobile location tracking and technical surveillance mapped their activities across Lajpat Nagar, Mahipalpur, and Kishangarh areas. Police laid a trap and nabbed Ankit with the vehicle. Intense interrogation led to recovery of the stolen items and the arrest of accomplice Ketan Tokas, from whom the theft tools were seized.

A dedicated team led by SI Dharmendra, including Head Constables Yogesh and Ashok, and Constables Sanjeev and Dharmendra, executed the operation under Inspector Ajay Kumar Yadav, SHO Kishangarh, and ACP Melvin Vergis, IPS, Safdarjung Enclave. Ankit, formerly a driver who later drove for Rapido with the Hyundai Aura, funded his drug habit through these thefts.

This crackdown has resolved three pending cases at Kishangarh station, with investigations ongoing to uncover further links.
