New Delhi has welcomed a significant reduction in US tariffs on Indian goods, marking a new chapter in bilateral trade relations. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw hailed the move as a win-win for both nations, emphasizing the complementary strengths of their economies.

In a post on X, Vaishnaw described India and the United States as the world’s largest democracies and natural partners. He highlighted their vast potential to collaborate on peace, development, and innovation. ‘Our strengths complement each other perfectly,’ he stated, pointing to opportunities in technology development and global solutions.

The tariff cut from 25% to 18% on ‘Made in India’ products comes after a phone conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump. PM Modi expressed delight over the decision, thanking Trump on behalf of India’s 1.4 billion people. He underscored how joint efforts between two major economies open doors to mutual prosperity.

Vaishnaw elaborated that the trade agreement paves the way for a brighter future, benefiting citizens and industries alike. This development is seen as a step toward stronger ties, with both leaders committed to elevating their partnership to new heights.

The US Ambassador to India confirmed the leaders’ discussion covered trade and other key issues. As global challenges mount, this deal signals renewed optimism for Indo-US cooperation in fostering stability and growth worldwide.
