New Delhi witnessed a significant moment in Indian cinema as the poster for the upcoming film ‘Godaan’, dedicated to cow protection, was unveiled on Monday. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) International President Alok Kumar spearheaded the launch event, expressing his profound admiration for the movie during an exclusive conversation with IANS.
‘Godaan is an exceptional film,’ declared Kumar enthusiastically. ‘We’ve watched the trailer, and it’s absolutely outstanding.’ Drawing from historical reverence, he invoked Mahatma Gandhi’s timeless words: ‘Gandhiji once stated that cow protection was more vital to him than even Swaraj. He personally served cows and vowed never to drink cow milk again, reserving it solely for the calf.’
Reflecting on his childhood, Kumar recounted a pivotal event. ‘On November 7, 1966, a massive movement for honoring Mother Cow took place. My uncle took me along; saints, householders, and cow lovers from across India gathered. Tragically, police resorted to lathi charges and even fired shots.’
He lamented the ongoing plight of cows in India. ‘It’s our nation’s misfortune that cows are slaughtered in every state. Both faith and protection are desperately needed. Urban areas face cow-related issues, but if we must rear them, treat them not as mere animals but as mothers. This demands the austerity a mother shows for her child.’
Kumar hailed the film as a beacon of inspiration for all Indians, extending best wishes to the team and confidently predicting widespread acclaim from audiences upon its theatrical release.
