Samba district in Jammu and Kashmir turned into a high-alert zone on Monday when two suspicious individuals were spotted near a Military Engineering Services (MES) building, dressed in attire resembling army uniforms. Local residents, quick to react, alerted authorities, prompting an immediate security response.

The incident unfolded in the Bari Brahmana area, where eyewitnesses noticed the duo loitering suspiciously around the MES facility. Within minutes, army personnel cordoned off the entire perimeter, sealing the campus and launching a thorough search operation to identify and apprehend the suspects.

Security forces have intensified patrols and restricted public movement in the vicinity to prevent any potential threats. Officials praised the vigilance of locals, crediting their prompt reporting for enabling a swift lockdown. The operation remains underway, with updates awaited.

Samba’s proximity to the international border makes it a hotspot for infiltrations. Terror groups, backed by Pakistan’s ISI, frequently attempt drone drops of arms, ammunition, cash, and narcotics. BSF employs advanced anti-drone systems to neutralize these incursions, often forcing drones back across the border.

Past incidents include Pakistani Rangers providing cover fire for terrorists and the discovery of cross-border tunnels by BSF. Along the Line of Control, the army vigilantly counters similar drone activities and infiltration bids in districts like Baramulla, Kupwara, and Poonch.

This episode underscores the persistent security challenges in border regions, where community alertness plays a crucial role alongside military preparedness. As the search continues, authorities urge residents to stay vigilant and report any unusual activity.
