Patna, February 2: BJP’s young legislator and renowned folk singer Maithili Thakur has emerged as a vocal advocate for Bihar’s progress. Active on social media, she frequently highlights development initiatives in the state. In a recent interview, Thakur praised the Union Budget while addressing the ongoing controversy surrounding a NEET aspirant’s death in Bihar.
Speaking exclusively, Thakur emphasized that justice will be swiftly delivered to the student and her family. Turning to the budget, she described it as exceptional. ‘This budget stands out because it prioritizes youth, women, farmers, and the poor,’ she said. ‘I’m particularly impressed by the push for high-value crops like coconut, cashew, and walnuts, alongside plans to establish girls’ hostels in districts. These thoughtful measures show the government’s keen eye for detail.’
Thakur highlighted the She-Mart scheme, which empowers ‘Lakhpati Didis’—successful women entrepreneurs—with a new platform to sell their products, boosting women’s welfare and economic independence. Earlier, on Instagram, she shared her enthusiasm after watching Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s speech with her constituency. ‘The budget focuses on women’s empowerment, farmers’ welfare, upliftment of the poor, and opportunities for youth,’ she posted. ‘As an MLA, simplifying these points for the public embodies true democracy.’
On the tragic NEET case, where a student’s death has sparked political uproar, Thakur, as a woman herself, demanded prompt justice. ‘The government is monitoring closely,’ she assured. ‘Discussions with the Home Minister revolve around expediting justice. CBI’s thorough probe inspires full confidence.’
The incident has intensified debates, with the family accusing Bihar Police of masking murder as suicide and denying sexual assault claims. The case has now been handed to CBI for impartial investigation, underscoring its gravity in Bihar’s political landscape.
