New Delhi’s streets saw a swift victory for law enforcement on January 27 when vigilant Delhi Police officers apprehended a notorious mobile phone snatcher during routine patrolling. Constable Pratap from PP Sidhpura spotted suspicious activity near Rani Jhansi Road’s Model Basti red light junction, leading to the dramatic chase and arrest.
The incident unfolded when a motorcycle collided with a car, prompting three riders to flee in panic. While two escaped on the bike, Constable Pratap gave chase on foot and captured 22-year-old Ritik alias Kalwa, a resident of Nabi Karim in Paharganj. A search revealed three stolen mobile phones in his possession: an Oppo linked to a Motinagar theft case, an Itel from a Lahori Gate snatching, and a Lava phone with no valid ownership proof.
During interrogation, Ritik confessed to stealing the grey Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle from Anand Parvat around 10-12 days prior, alongside accomplices Wasim and Salim. The trio used the stolen bike for snatchings in Motinagar and Lahori Gate areas. Police have registered cases under relevant sections and intensified efforts to nab the fugitives.
Delhi Police’s enhanced patrolling strategy, with dedicated teams briefed for early morning vigilance, has proven effective in monitoring criminal elements and preventing crime. This operation not only recovered stolen property but also disrupted a budding snatching ring. Investigations continue to trace the rightful owners of the phones and apprehend the remaining suspects, underscoring the force’s commitment to public safety.
