Noida, February 2. Haryana Thunder clinched the Pro Wrestling League (PWL) 2026 title in a nail-biting 5-4 final victory over Delhi Danga Warriors at the Noida Indoor Stadium on Sunday night. BJP leader and former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh hailed the league as a massive success, attributing the sport’s steady growth to enhanced sports infrastructure over the past decade.

Reacting to the thrilling finale, Singh described it as one of the most suspenseful wrestling matches in recent history. ‘The match kept everyone on edge until the very last moment,’ he said. ‘With the score tied at 4-4, neither side could claim victory until the end. Unlike most bouts where outcomes are predictable early on, this final built unrelenting tension, making it truly spectacular.’

Singh expressed strong optimism about India’s wrestling prowess on the global stage. ‘India is excelling in wrestling, and the future looks even brighter,’ he noted. ‘Among all sports, wrestling holds the greatest potential for India to secure the most medals.’

Praising governmental efforts, the former WFI chief credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for the uninterrupted progress in sports facilities. ‘Since PM Modi took office, sports infrastructure has seen consistent improvements without facing any major hurdles,’ Singh emphasized.

Haryana Thunder walked away with the championship trophy and a prize of 1.5 crore rupees, while runners-up Delhi Danga Warriors received 75 lakh rupees. The event underscores India’s rising dominance in professional wrestling, fueled by better venues and sustained investment.
