In a shocking incident from Bihar’s Bhojpur district, an 18-year-old intermediate student was abducted and brutally murdered while heading to his coaching class. Sunny Kumar Singh, a resident of Ekawna village under Badhara police station, left home Friday morning with a friend for a coaching institute on KG Road in Nawada area. What started as a routine day turned into a nightmare for his family.
Around 10:50 AM, Sunny called his cousin, mentioning he was with some youths and promised to share a number. Moments later, he rang his brother, desperately saying unknown men were forcing him onto a bike towards Garhni and plotting his murder. His phone went dead shortly after, sparking panic. The family rushed to Nawada police station to report him missing.
Police swung into action, scouring CCTV footage from KG Road and nearby spots. They detained a suspect whose interrogation cracked the case wide open. Following his leads, officers recovered Sunny’s body Friday night from a water-filled pit near Piprahia railway underpass in Muffasil police station limits. The corpse showed signs of strangulation, and it was sent for postmortem at Sadar Hospital.
Investigations revealed the grisly motive: a heated dispute on Instagram involving a girl. Her boyfriend and accomplices allegedly kidnapped Sunny, beat him savagely, and throttled him to death. Three suspects are in custody, being grilled by police. Nawada SHO Bipin Bihari confirmed the probe is ongoing, promising full disclosure soon.
This tragedy has sent ripples of fear through Ara city and surrounding villages. Parents are on edge, questioning the safety of students commuting to coaching centers. Authorities have ramped up patrols, but the community demands swift justice and stricter monitoring of social media conflicts before they turn fatal.
