New Delhi, January 30 – Once a sizzling VJ who captivated audiences on MTV, Amrita Arora has reinvented herself far beyond the silver screen. Born on January 31, 1978, in Mumbai, the actress sister of Malaika Arora tried her luck in Bollywood but found greater fulfillment in family life and business ventures.
Amrita’s early career sparkled on television. At just 17, she hosted popular MTV shows like ‘Housefull’ and ‘Chill Out,’ becoming a household name as a video jockey. Her charm and energy made her a fan favorite before she stepped into films.
Her big-screen debut came in 2002 with ‘Kitne Door Kitne Paas,’ followed by roles in ‘Awara Paagal Deewana,’ ‘Girlfriend,’ ‘Ek Aur Ek Gyarah,’ ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi,’ ‘Golmaal Returns,’ and ‘Kambakkht Ishq.’ Despite special appearances in several hits, her films largely underperformed, dimming her stardom prospects.
In 2009, Amrita married Shakeel Ladak, stepping away from acting to focus on personal life. Their union, though mired in controversy as Shakeel was previously married to her friend, has stood strong. Today, the couple raises two sons in blissful domesticity, with Amrita embracing motherhood wholeheartedly.
Yet, she remains tethered to showbiz through her unbreakable bond with Kareena Kapoor Khan. The trio – Amrita, Kareena, and Malaika – frequently trends on social media, attending glamorous bashes and sharing glimpses of their elite circle.
Venturing into entrepreneurship, Amrita and Shakeel launched ‘Jolene by the Sea,’ a luxurious beachside restaurant in Goa’s Anjuna Beach. Overseen personally by Amrita, from menu curation to opulent interiors, the venue rivals five-star resorts. She actively promotes it on social platforms, drawing celebrity crowds and food enthusiasts alike.
As Amrita celebrates another birthday, her story inspires – proving resilience turns unfulfilled dreams into thriving realities.
