In a shocking incident at Veena School in Bengaluru’s Nandini Layout, a Class 4 student was allegedly beaten brutally by his teacher for not completing homework. The 10-year-old boy suffered injuries on his hands, legs, and fingers. The teacher, identified as Angelina, also threatened him not to tell anyone about the assault.

The incident occurred on January 10, but came to light only when the boy’s mother noticed sudden changes in his behavior. Upon questioning, the child broke down and revealed the ordeal. Rushing to the school, the mother confronted the staff, only to face abuse and insults.

Undeterred, she filed a complaint at Nandini Layout police station. Authorities registered an FIR against the teacher and school management under BNS sections 115 for voluntarily causing hurt and 351 for criminal intimidation, along with relevant provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.

The school swiftly suspended the accused teacher upon learning of the matter. Police have initiated a probe, including a medical examination of the child’s injuries. The mother demands stricter safety measures in schools and severe punishment for the guilty.

This case underscores the rising concerns over corporal punishment in Bengaluru schools, which is strictly banned by law. Experts warn that such acts inflict lasting psychological trauma on children. Police assure a robust charge sheet post-investigation, while the mother urges parents to stay vigilant.

Schools must prioritize safe, respectful environments for kids. Further probe continues, with court proceedings expected soon.
