In a shocking incident from Jharkhand’s Palamu district, a man turned a family argument into a bloodbath, stabbing his father-in-law to death and seriously injuring his wife and sister-in-law. The attack unfolded in Chhatarpur police station limits on Friday, leaving the community reeling from the violence.
Lavkush Yadav, a resident of Soba Barewa village under Haidernagar police station, had married Rita Devi from Chhatarpur about three years ago. Tensions brewed almost immediately after the wedding, leading to frequent quarrels. Rita had been staying at her parental home for some time due to ongoing marital discord.
Recently returning from work outside, Lavkush arrived at his in-laws’ house demanding Rita accompany him back home. When she refused, a heated argument erupted. Losing control, Lavkush grabbed a knife and attacked his wife. As her father, Sunil Yadav, intervened to protect her, the enraged son-in-law turned the blade on him, delivering fatal blows.
Rita’s sister, Kavita Kumari, who rushed to help, also fell victim to the frenzy, sustaining severe stab wounds. Sunil died on the spot from his injuries. Fleeing the scene, Lavkush vanished as police from Chhatarpur station rushed to the location upon receiving reports.
The body was sent for post-mortem examination, while the critically injured Rita and Kavita were admitted to Medinagar Medical College Hospital. Their conditions remain precarious. Authorities have registered a case and launched a manhunt for the prime suspect. This tragic episode underscores the deadly potential of unresolved family conflicts.
