Patna buzzes with political heat as JD(U) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Kumar Jha sharply criticizes West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and opposition leaders for turning a tragic plane crash into a political battleground. The controversy erupted following the shocking death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in what has been described as a chartered flight mishap.
Speaking to reporters in Patna on January 30, Jha expressed profound sorrow over the incident. ‘The manner of his demise is deeply heartbreaking,’ he said, noting that even Sharad Pawar, a veteran political figure, issued a statement urging restraint from politicization. ‘Yet, some leaders persist in this divisive game, which serves no good to the nation,’ Jha added.
The MP called for a thorough investigation into the chartered plane operations. ‘We must scrutinize how these aircraft are allotted, maintained, and operated by pilots. Until a full probe unfolds, the truth remains hidden,’ he emphasized. He urged the government to review standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent future tragedies.
Turning his guns on the opposition, Jha highlighted Bihar’s transformation under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. ‘Look at history—only one leader has truly empowered women, and that’s Nitish Kumar. Before his tenure, women’s plight in Bihar was dire, and everyone knows it.’ He accused opposition parties of inaction and deliberate attempts to vitiate Bihar’s atmosphere.
‘Bihar’s people are no longer swayed by such tactics,’ Jha asserted confidently. ‘They trust Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Nitish Kumar, standing firmly with them.’ He praised the rising role of women in Bihar politics and self-help groups like Jeevika, where they contribute shoulder-to-shoulder with families.
As the debate rages, Jha’s words underscore a call for unity over petty politics in the face of national loss, reminding all that Bihar’s electorate is wide awake to such maneuvers.
