LUCKNOW: On the solemn occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityynath led a heartfelt tribute at the Gandhi statue in Lucknow’s GPO Park. Friday’s event unfolded in an atmosphere thick with reverence, as the CM offered floral wreaths and stood in silent remembrance.
Adityanath began by garlanding the statue of the Father of the Nation, bowing deeply in respect. He spent several quiet moments reflecting on Gandhi’s legacy. Later, he took to his X handle to share a poignant message, urging citizens to embrace Bapu’s ideals of truth and non-violence for building a prosperous India.
The ceremony gained a melodic touch with schoolchildren performing Gandhi’s favorite bhajans, including the timeless ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram.’ The park echoed with their sweet voices for nearly 15 minutes, captivating the audience. Yogi listened attentively, praised the young performers, and even posed for photographs with them beside the statue.
Earlier on X, the Chief Minister wrote, ‘On the punyatithi of Rashtrapita Mahatma Gandhi ji, shat-shat naman. Bapu’s unwavering commitment to truth, his steadfast practice of non-violence, and his boundless compassion for humanity will forever illuminate the world. Let us internalize his ideals and contribute to a prosperous, just, and developed India.’
The event saw participation from Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, MLAs Neeraj Bora and Jay Devi, MLCs Mahendra Singh, Mukesh Sharma, and Ramchandra Pradhan, alongside BJP city president Anand Dwivedi. All dignitaries paid their respects by offering flowers at Gandhi’s portrait and statue.
This annual ritual not only honors Gandhi’s sacrifices but also reinforces his timeless principles in contemporary India, inspiring leaders and citizens alike to pursue paths of peace and unity.
