In a grand ceremony at the Police Headquarters in Naya Raipur, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai unveiled the Silver Jubilee Medal dedicated to the state’s police force. This prestigious award recognizes their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security across the region. The Chief Minister extended his heartfelt wishes to the officers, emphasizing that the medal will stand as a lasting symbol of their extraordinary courage, valor, and sacrifices.
Announced on Republic Day, January 26, the medal’s launch was swiftly executed, highlighting the government’s prompt action. Over the past 25 years, Chhattisgarh Police have fortified law and order while displaying remarkable bravery in anti-Naxal operations, often at great personal cost. ‘This medal will eternally commemorate their dedication,’ Sai remarked, underscoring the force’s pivotal role in the state’s stability.
The medal, circular and silver-hued, embodies Chhattisgarh’s rich cultural heritage. Its front features the sacred Sal tree, while the reverse showcases the Hill Myna bird in embossed relief. Worn on a ribbon, it finds its place on the uniform’s left chest pocket, positioned after awards like Ashok Chakra and Kirti Chakra in the order of precedence.
Symbolism runs deep in the design. The Hill Myna represents vigilance, communication, fearlessness, cultural connection, and team spirit—qualities that define the police force. The Sal tree, revered in Bastar and Surguja regions, signifies strength, resilience, longevity, protection, ecological balance, and silent yet powerful contributions. Together, they honor the police’s devotion, service, and commitment to society, cementing their glorious legacy.
The event saw the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, Chief Secretary Vikas Sheel, Principal Secretary to CM Subodh Kumar Singh, DGP Arun Dev Gautam, and several senior ADGPs including Kalluri, Pradeep Gupta, Vivekanand Sinha, Deepanshu Kabra, and Amit Kumar. This ceremony not only celebrated past achievements but also inspired the force for future challenges in ensuring a secure Chhattisgarh.
