New Delhi, January 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a massive NCC-PM rally at Kariappa Parade Ground, but the occasion was overshadowed by profound grief. In an emotional tribute, PM Modi mourned the tragic loss of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who perished in a devastating plane crash earlier that morning.
Visibly moved, Modi described Ajit Pawar, affectionately called Ajit Dada, as a towering figure in Maharashtra’s and India’s development. ‘Ajit Dada made immense contributions to the progress of Maharashtra and the nation, especially in uplifting rural lives,’ he said, his voice heavy with emotion. The Prime Minister extended heartfelt condolences to Pawar’s family and those who lost loved ones in the accident.
Turning to the youth gathered, Modi praised the NCC’s role in shaping confident, disciplined, and nation-loving citizens. He highlighted the surge in NCC cadets from 14 lakh to 20 lakh, with a special shoutout to the large number of girl cadets present. ‘This is the era of opportunities for India’s youth,’ he declared, urging them to seize global trust built on skills and values.
Earlier, on social media, Modi remembered Pawar as a grassroots leader with deep administrative acumen and passion for empowering the poor. The untimely demise has left a void in Maharashtra politics, as tributes pour in from across the spectrum.
