Mumbai, January 28: A pall of grief has descended across Maharashtra following the tragic plane crash that claimed the life of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Political leaders from various parties united in sorrow, hailing him as an irreplaceable pillar of the state’s politics.
BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar described the incident as heartbreaking, saying Maharashtra has lost a dynamic, robust leader with a heart of gold. ‘Ajit Pawar’s departure is not just a political blow but the void left by a man who always worked for the people,’ he added.
Minister Uday Samant called it a devastating day, paying deep respects to ‘Ajit Dada,’ who shaped the direction of politics. Minister Yogesh Kadam, still in disbelief, remembered Pawar as his lifelong inspiration, always seen serving the masses.
BJP leader Prakash Javadekar termed it a profound shock to the state, noting the government’s declaration of two days of state mourning. He praised Pawar as an active administrator, thorough in studying rules, and a clear, impactful orator.
NCP worker Ballal Sadhu expressed incredulity at losing ‘Ajit Dada,’ a leader of Maharashtra and the nation. Former minister Suryakant Patil called it a major crisis, comparing it to past losses like Indira and Sanjay Gandhi, but especially painful now amid leadership shortages.
MLC Amrish Patel highlighted Pawar as an emerging, respected visionary who spoke truth boldly and proved his resolve to transform Maharashtra through actions. MLC Vikram Vasantrao Kale called it agonizing for the entire nationalist family.
Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam described it as an unimaginable tragedy, with Pawar as a strong pillar of Maharashtra politics, deeply connected to rural folks. BJP MP Dhananjay Mahadik recalled initial prayers for his recovery after reports of injury, only to hear of his passing soon after, lauding him as a great leader and skilled orator.
Legislator Rahul Aawade mourned the experienced leader with whom he shared family ties and guidance. As tributes pour in, Pawar’s legacy of service and strong leadership will endure, leaving a lasting impact on Maharashtra’s political landscape.
