In a shocking twist to the mysterious death of a NEET aspirant in Patna, forensic evidence has revealed human sperm traces on the victim’s underwear. The discovery has shifted the investigation towards possible sexual assault, intensifying scrutiny on Bihar’s law enforcement.
The body of the 20-year-old student from Jehanabad was found on January 9 in her room at Shambhu Girls Hostel in Chitragupt Nagar. Initially deemed suspicious, the case exploded after family members handed over her clothes to authorities on January 10. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) confirmed the presence of sperm residues, prompting DNA profiling to match against suspects identified by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
This revelation aligns with the post-mortem report from Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), which hinted at sexual abuse around the time of death. AIIMS Patna’s review is pending due to document delays, but the FSL findings are set to accelerate the probe.
Police accountability has come under fire too. Kadamkuan Assistant SHO Hemant Jha and Chitragupt Nagar SHO Roshni Kumari were suspended immediately for negligence in evidence collection and delayed action. Critics argue their lapses allowed crucial leads to slip.
The tragedy has sparked political outrage, with opposition parties slamming the Nitish Kumar government over women’s safety. Deputy CM and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary responded by forming the SIT, promising swift justice. As DNA results loom, Patna braces for more revelations in this harrowing case.
