New Delhi is set to host a grand celebration for the 16th National Voters’ Day on Sunday, January 25, organized by the Election Commission of India (ECI). This year’s theme, ‘My India, My Vote’, underscores the tagline ‘Citizen at the Heart of Indian Democracy’, emphasizing the pivotal role of every voter in the nation’s democratic fabric.
President Droupadi Murmu will grace the event as the Chief Guest, presiding over the ceremonies in the capital. Union Minister of State for Law and Justice (Independent Charge) Arjun Ram Meghwal will attend as a special guest. The program will be led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alongside Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi.
Following longstanding tradition, the President will deliver a keynote address, handing out Voter ID cards to newly enrolled young voters. She will also present awards for excellence in various election practices, including innovative use of technology, efficient election management and logistics, creative voter awareness campaigns, implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, training and capacity building, along with special accolades and media awards.
Two key publications will be launched: ‘Year 2025: Year of Initiatives and Innovations’ and ‘Festival of Elections, Pride of Bihar’, highlighting the successful conduct of Bihar assembly elections. A compelling video showcasing ECI’s global leadership in electoral management and democratic development will also be screened.
A special exhibition will spotlight critical aspects of elections, from voter list preparation to poll execution. It will prominently feature recent ECI initiatives for voter welfare and the triumphant Bihar elections in 2025. Nationwide, the celebrations will echo at state and district levels through Chief Electoral Officers and District Election Officers. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will organize events at polling stations, honoring new registrants and distributing Voter IDs, fostering grassroots democratic engagement.
