PUNE: In a shocking incident, an IndiGo flight en route from Delhi to Pune received a menacing threat note, prompting swift action from authorities. The aircraft, identified as flight 6E 2608, landed safely at Pune Airport on January 22, and all passengers and crew were evacuated without incident.
IndiGo’s spokesperson confirmed the development, stating that upon landing, the crew was alerted to a potential security threat. Following standard protocols, the airline immediately notified relevant authorities and cooperated fully with the standard operating procedures. ‘The safety of our customers, crew, and aircraft remains our top priority,’ the spokesperson emphasized.
Post-evacuation, security teams conducted a thorough inspection of the plane. No explosives or suspicious items were found, easing immediate concerns. This event marks the second such scare for IndiGo in recent days, following a similar bomb threat on a Delhi-Bagdogra flight that led to an emergency landing in Lucknow.
In that prior case, flight 6E-6650 carrying 222 passengers, 8 infants, 2 pilots, and 5 crew members touched down safely at Lucknow Airport at 9:17 AM. A handwritten note on tissue paper reading ‘Bomb in plane’ was discovered inside, triggering a full-scale security response. Passengers were safely deboarded, and the aircraft was isolated for checks.
Authorities have ramped up investigations into these hoax threats, vowing to track down and apprehend those responsible. Aviation security experts note a rising trend of such false alarms disrupting flights, straining resources and causing undue panic among travelers. IndiGo, India’s largest carrier, continues to reassure passengers of its commitment to safety amid these challenges.
As probes continue, the industry calls for stricter penalties to deter such acts. Travelers are advised to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity. This latest episode underscores the vigilance required in air travel security today.
