Ranchi: In a significant step toward bolstering international business ties, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren met with the Chief India Representative of the Sweden-India Business Council (SIBC), Cecilia Oldne, on Tuesday. The high-level meeting took place at the Chief Minister’s residence, where the focus was on deepening trade and investment cooperation between the state of Jharkhand and Swedish industries. The meeting was attended by Kalpana Murmu Soren, MLA and Chairperson of the state’s Women and Child Development Committee, along with a high-ranking delegation from the Jharkhand government. The discussions spanned a variety of sectors, including industrial growth, sustainable infrastructure, and green technology, as the state looks to transition toward a more modern and diversified economy.
Cecilia Oldne assured the Chief Minister of SIBC’s full support in facilitating a robust business partnership. She highlighted that more than 50 Swedish companies are currently operating in India, and there is growing interest among them to explore the opportunities available in Jharkhand. The session also revisited the outcomes of previous interactions at the Davos summit and the Chief Minister’s visit to Sweden last year, where he met with representatives from Volvo and other major firms. To move these discussions toward implementation, it was decided that a special roundtable meeting would be organized in April 2025. This upcoming event will delve into urban mobility, sustainable city planning, and innovative financing models for public transport, marking a significant milestone in Jharkhand’s global outreach.
