Patna, January 20: BJP MLA Maithili Thakur from Bihar’s Alinagar assembly constituency has firmly responded to RJD leader and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav’s recent remark that ‘the people lost and the system won’ in the Bihar assembly elections. In an exclusive conversation with IANS, the folk singer-turned-politician emphasized her commitment to her voters.
‘The responsibility entrusted by the people will be fulfilled with utmost honesty,’ Thakur asserted. ‘My efforts to beautify and develop Alinagar will continue unabated.’ She dismissed Tejashwi’s perspective, stating, ‘Everyone has their own viewpoint. Our government focuses on development every single day and acts swiftly on law and order issues. I hope he plays the role of Leader of Opposition effectively.’
Thakur also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s congratulatory message to Nitin Nabin on becoming the national president of the world’s largest political party, BJP. ‘PM Modi’s words reflect the party’s culture. Calling Nitin Nabin his boss shows BJP’s ethos. It’s a proud moment for entire Bihar,’ she said.
As a newcomer to politics for just two-three months, Thakur expressed eagerness to learn. ‘I’m absorbing the party’s workings. Youthful energy drives me, and I admire Nitin Nabin’s belief that politics needs no shortcuts.’ She highlighted BJP’s unique appeal: ‘It leaves an indelible mark. Even a simple worker can rise to top positions.’
Recalling her flight encounter with Nabin a day before his elevation, Thakur noted his guidance. On the upcoming budget session, she promised, ‘Despite seasoned leaders in the house, I’ll vigorously raise Alinagar’s issues on education, industry, and sports.’
Addressing the tragic NEET aspirant murder case, she condemned it as a heinous crime, assuring strict government action and justice for the victim.
