Dharamshala, January 19 – In a significant move to aid more underprivileged families, the process to include new households in the Below Poverty Line (BPL) list has kicked off in Tisa development block of Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh. Revised selection criteria are opening doors for eligible families who previously missed out.
Under the updated guidelines, interested applicants have until January 25 to submit their applications at their respective panchayat offices. Previously, 9,424 families were enlisted in the BPL list for Tisa block. In the first phase of the revision, 878 families have already been added. Now, the second phase targets 1,368 additional families, with preparations underway for the third phase.
This expansion is expected to ensure that genuine needy households receive government welfare benefits they’ve been entitled to. Block Development Officer Arvind Kumar emphasized that the entire process adheres strictly to state government standards, ensuring complete transparency.
‘Only families meeting the inclusion criteria and not falling under exclusion rules will be added,’ Kumar stated. These criteria meticulously evaluate family income, assets, available facilities, and other parameters.
Kumar urged eligible families to act promptly before the January 25 deadline, warning that late submissions may forfeit their chance. This initiative aligns with the state government’s broader mission to extend welfare schemes to all BPL families effectively.
Local residents are encouraged to gather necessary documents and apply without delay, marking a crucial step towards poverty alleviation in the region.
