New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant two-day visit to West Bengal and Assam on January 17-18, officials confirmed on Wednesday. This trip underscores the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) strategic outreach in the eastern region ahead of key electoral battles. In West Bengal, PM Modi will address a massive public rally in Krishnanagar, the home turf of BJP MP Mahua Moitra’s challenger in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The event is expected to draw lakhs of supporters, highlighting the party’s growing footprint in a state dominated by the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Moving to Assam, the itinerary includes a visit to the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati, followed by the foundation stone laying for a new cancer hospital and the inauguration of multiple highway projects worth over Rs 5,000 crore.
